January General Membership Meeting ( 1/28/03 - Powder Valley Nature Conservation Center)

Introduction

  • History of OTA

  • OT is amongst the top 20 in mileage in U.S.

  • Number 1 goal for OTA is Karkaghne construction

  • Other goals:
    o Adopt-A-Trail set up by end of year
    o Website functioning
    o Getting the word out
     

Status Reports

  • Member and Volunteer Status
    o 5 Outings
    o .6 miles north of Hwy 32 constructed
    o .1 miles south of Hwy 32 constructed
    o .25 miles of Berryman rerouted
    o Work schedule for February is set up
    o 52 paid members as of this date
    o OT logo is going to be patented
    o Member packets are going out

  • Marketing and Promotions
    o Caps and T-shirts are being created. Should be ready by end of Feb
    o Directory is nearly complete
    o Twice a year members will receive newsletter
    o Feb 20th is submission deadline for Spring 2003 newsletter
    o Flyer is done and has been posted
    o Press kit is being developed
    o Will talk with Post Dispatch at some point

  • Community Relations
    o February 26th at noon the OTA will make presentation to Arcadia Valley Chamber Of Commerce.
    o Member Meeting will be later that day

  • Maintenance and Construction
    o Video of techniques is being put together
    o Sutton Bluff reroute update
     They will be repairing trail along the bluff, not moving it.
     They will be moving the trail down in the bottomland along Bee Fork
    o Forest Service is re-GPSing north Blair Creek

  • Website
    o Basic site is complete
    o 11 x 17 maps are available for a charge
    o Online registration for outings and membership join is up and running
    o Trip reports is being worked on
    o “Towns Along The Trail” page being created
    o Shuttle Services will be listed
    o Privacy Agreement has been posted
     

Other Business

  • Financial Report was presented by President

  • Online Store will be developed

  • Waiver and Participation agreement will be posted

  • Open Items discussed
    o Adopt-A-Trail
    o Trail Registers
    o Brochure
    o Membership Drive
    o Taum Sauk Challenge
    o Printing/Corporate sponsors
    o Fire rings

  • Ozark Trail Council meeting will be March 22nd at Meramec State Park. OTA will be represented.
