04/22/2010 08:30:00 AM
Hike
Join us on this Earth Day for the 40th anniversary of the event as we hike to explore the OT and see what's popping up out of the ground this Spring. We will first hike the 3 mile loop to Mina Sauk Falls, and possibly on to the Devil's Tollgate, then will hike on to the eastern trailhead along Hwys 21/72, 5-1/2 miles away. Total mileage for the day will be 8-1/2 to 10 miles. Meet at the trailhead parking area on Hwys 21/72 at 8:30AM then we will shuttle from there back to the top of Missouri on Taum Sauk Mtn in Taum Sauk Mtn State Park to begin our loop hike to Mina Sauk Falls. Mina Sauk Falls should be flowing good and there should be plenty of Spring wildflowers to see today. You may also just come and hike the Mina Sauk Loop Trail but please still plan on meeting us at the trailhead/parking lot on Hwy 21/72 at 8:30AM. Don't forget your lunch, water, camera, and dress for the weather!
