This maintenance helps the OTA fulfill its volunteer hours committment to the USFS .
we’ll have a couple of sites we can go in an do some badly tread work not far from Potosi.
We’ll have exact location details the Monday before the event.
We generally meet up by 8:15am at the location — so stay tuned for more details.
As allways , wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots, bring a lunch, at least 2 liters of water and weather appropriate clothing.
We’ll watch the weather and make sure we have a good weather window.
The OTA will provide all tools, and safety gear.
Please don’t use acronyms without defining them. Why would I volunteer to help if I don’t know what a GAOA is?
Robert
GAOA is a term we have been using since the Fall of 2021.
It the term used to refer to the Great American Outdoors Act
tha was signed into law in 2020.
It provides bilklions of federal dollars to be used across allmost all of the Federal public
lands agencies. Portions of that money were provided to Agencies like the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land
Managemet, FDA, National Parks etc.
The OTA was awarded grant money through the US Forest Service to rehab the Ozark rail and bring it up to
21st century stadards.
Nearly every event we have had to do maintenance on the Ozark Trail that resides in the Mark Twain National
Forest since the sing pf 2021 has had tread rehab performed and funded by this grant money.
The term GAOA is and has been defined regularly since the Fall 2021.
We have had over 150 maintenance events in the 4 years that references and defines this.
We don’t allways defines it these days as it has become well known and very easy to find out what it is.
The key term is maintenance or tread rehab .. we will do the trail maintenance on the Ozark Trail.
Not al that hard to decern.
