DESCRIPTION:We are celebrating National Trails Day by working on building the new spur trail at Harmon Spring trailhead!  The US Forest Service has approval for a new\, more accessible trailhead at Harmon Spring\, and it will need a new spur trail to connect to the Ozark Trail.  This is located on the Courtois section near mile 22\, not far from the Berryman loop. \nWe will be meeting at 8:45am on Floyd Tower Road (FR 2265) where it intersects FR 2901.  GPS Coordinates: 37.98344\, -91.07249. \nPlease bring water and lunch/snacks for yourself.  As always\, bring sturdy work shoes/boots\, long pants\, shirt and weather-appropriate layering. We will have gloves\, safety glasses\, and hearing protection\, but if you prefer to bring your own\, please do.

DESCRIPTION:Sept 26-28\, 2025  — OTA Fall Mega \nFINALLY—  We will be working down South building the new 11 Pt Trail Head access off of Cty Rd 430 ( Banner Rd / Forest Rd 3173) \nCome out and help build new trail on the Ozark Trail for the first time in many years!!! \nWe’ll have camping available at Greer Springs Campground on located on Hwy 19 at the 11 Point River Crossing about a 20 minute drive south of Winona and Hwy 60. We will also have limited space avail ( approx 10-12)  at the USFS Winona housing facility. We’ll have some overflow camping space there as well. \nYou can arrive at Greer Springs Thursday evening if you want to help with Friday setup\, tool cache and work area prep. \nEveryone else can arrive Friday anytime or even Saturday morning if you like.. Just have to be there on Saturday by 8  am. \nWe’ll Greer campground at 8:30 am sharp to the 11 pt Western terminus\, pick up tools and hike a short distance in to the work area.

DESCRIPTION:It’s MEGA time! As the temperatures warm up\, trail construction heats up. Join us as we return to the ONSR Round Spring area to continue construction on our latest project\, connecting the Round Spring loop to Echo Bluff State Park. This gap once filled will create one of the longest hike and float adventures in the ONSR. \nWe’ll be based out of the ONSR Round Spring facility with tent camping (hammocks are no longer allowed) or bring along your camping trailer\, as sites will be available on Friday and Saturday night. Work will commence Saturday morning with lunch and tools provided. After a good day on the trail\, we will relax with Jeff’s famous BBQ\, Kathie’s infamous raffle\, and a bonfire. If you’d like to contribute a desert that would be awesome. \nPlease remember to dress for the work and prepare for the weather. Gloves\, long pants and hiking/work boots are required\, as we are working on rough ground and using tools. Wearing a hard hat is required in the work area. You may want to bring safety glasses. Have rain gear\, sunscreen\, and bug deterrent. DESCRIPTION:We will be ending this year with a trail construction event based out of Current River SP as well as ring in\nthe New Year with a hike on New Year’s Day! You can arrive on Sunday\, January 30 for a day of\nadventure or you could stop by the ACA Kayak and Canoe Workshop at Echo Bluff SP. Here are the\nspecifics:\nWhere: We will be staying at Current River State Park located on Hwy 19 south of Salem MO or north of\nWinona if you are coming from those directions. Camping is available on the grounds as well as showers\nand kitchen facilities. EVERYONE will MEET UP Monday morning at the parking lot north of Carr’s Canoe\nRentals at 8:30 am. Watch for the big green arrow sign. \nWhat to bring: You will need to bring any camping/bedding for the stay over. Not sure how warm the\nbuilding will be so plan for some cooler temps. Be sure to dress for the weather\, layers are best also rain\ngear as who’s to say it might do something. Wear sturdy boots\, no tennis shoes as you will be using\ntools. Have your favorite pair of gloves\, bring a backpack to carry your lunch and snacks as well as water\nto the work site. We will be for the most part a short distance from the vehicles. Bring a camp chair to\nsit in during the day as well as around the campfire at night. You will be responsible for all meals other\nthan dinner on Monday night and we will have a communal breakfast New Year’s Day. I’ll supply eggs\,\nsausage and coffee stuff. SUMMARY:Last Hurrah!
DESCRIPTION:It’s the “Last Hurrah” of the 2018 year as we gather together to get in one more construction event for the year.  We will be based out of Current River State Park.  This can be a one day or two-day event if you want to stay over and help on Sunday. \nWhere:  We will be staying at Current River State Park located on Hwy 19 south of Salem MO or north of Winona if you are coming from those directions.  There is limited lodging so please let me know if you need a bed and camping is available on the grounds as well as showers and kitchen facilities.  You can arrive early on Friday to explore the area. For EVERYONE\, we will MEET UP Saturday morning at the canoe parking lot just before you get to Carr’s on Hwy 19 heading south at 8:30 am. Watch for the big green arrow sign. \nWhat to bring:  You will need to bring any camping/bedding for the stay over.  Not sure how warm the buildings will be so plan for some cooler temps. Be sure to dress for the weather\, layers are best also rain gear as who’s to say it might do something.   Wear sturdy boots\, no tennis shoes as you will be using tools.  Have your favorite pair of gloves\, bring a backpack to carry your lunch and snacks as well as water to the work site.  You will be responsible for all meals other than dinner on Saturday night and we will have a communal breakfast Sunday.  I’ll supply eggs\, sausage and coffee stuff.  Others are welcome to add to it as well if you’d like to help with a side dish for Sat. night’s dinner. \nWhat are we doing!  We will be building new trail.  This is exciting and I hope everyone is ready for some time in the woods as well as digging in the dirt.  If you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I will try to respond quickly as I can.  Again\, if your plans have changed please let me know.  For reference\, my # is 573-382-8370.

DESCRIPTION:This is your opportunity to come out for a day or two or more so make sure when you sign up you let us know what your plans are so we can plan accordingly.  We have reserved the Winona USFS Facility so there is first come housing and camping is available in the yard.  Heading down to Winona allows us to begin to enjoy the first signs of spring and more while getting work done on the southern sections of the OT which are always a treat to be out on. \nWe’ll be getting them ready for the 2022 season. Come down for a day or the 2 weeks. \nWe’ll be weed eating\, loping\, clearing trees and doing GAOA tread rehab. \nThe facility has a full kitchen\, 2 indoor restrooms and limited sleeping quarters ( available on a first come first serve basis) \nWe are practicing our covid procedures which are as follows: \n\nIf you have any cold or flu or covid symptoms — please don’t come.\nIf you have been exposed to anyone else who has the above symptoms — please don’t come\nIf you have been in any medical facility in the last 2 week before the event — please do not come\nWe will sanitize the facility on March 6th. We will have sanitizing supplies for use while we are there.\nWe will sanitize the facility on our departure\nWe have masks\, no touch thermometer and gloves available for anyone who wants or needs them\n\nThe OTA will provide a dinner or 2 and breakfast or 2. SUMMARY:Spring Time down at Udall - Construction
DESCRIPTION:Let’s see if we can find some Spring Wild flowers this time! We are returning to Norfork Lake at the Udall campground to continue construction of new trail.  Gathering for all the fun\, friendship\, food and trail construction you would want for a grand weekend! Volunteers can arrive on Friday for a night of camping or gather Saturday morning at 8:30 am to do a short hike to the work site.  Heads up for those wanting a warmer place to stay\, you can contact Dawt Mill for availability of rooms for those who would like to be inside. \nWhen signing up please let us know if you are camping\, also if staying for dinner on Saturday evening so that we can prepare accordingly.  We also will consider a 1/2 day construction on Sunday with a breakfast at the campground before hand.  Let’s keep the momentum going! \nWhat to Bring:   You will need to dress for the weather and trail work.  Boots and layers of clothing work best.  You will also need to wear sturdy boots\, have a backpack\, rain gear\, plan for your lunches/snacks and have plenty of water.   Bring your own camping gear and personal items.  You will also need to bring a couple of gallons of water as the water will be off.  Also a camp chair for sitting around the campfire as you enjoy dinner Saturday night. \nPROVIDED:  PPE(hard hats\, work gloves\, safety glasses)\, tools and fun filled day of building new trail! \nIf you have any questions\, contact Terry Hawn at thawn@prodigy.net   See you soon!
