SUMMARY:2019 OT Challenge Hike
DESCRIPTION:Looking for an adventure? If you’re up for a challenge that helps a good cause\, the OT Challenge Hike may be right for you! This fun-filled weekend includes a hike on Missouri’s longest backcountry trail. Kick off the weekend Friday evening where you will you get time to socialize with fellow participants and enjoy a Cinco De Mayo themed dinner. Get a good night’s rest and wake up to a buffet breakfast on Saturday morning to prepare you for the day’s hike. Take a break and have lunch and snacks at the aid station as you push through to your goal. Saturday evening will include a celebration dinner\, pin ceremony\, bonfire and live music. Enjoy another night of camping and another buffet breakfast to finish up the weekend before heading home with memories to last a lifetime. This event takes place at Bass’ River Resort near Steelville\, MO. This popular resort offers a variety of outdoor activities and is located along beautiful Courtois Creek. This event is the OTA’s biggest fundraiser and is a lot of fun! Participation in this event includes fundraising and a 15+ mile hike. DESCRIPTION:13 Miles: Taum Sauk Mountain State Park to Johnson’s Shut-In State Park\nThe Devil’s Toll Race is a 13-mile dual discipline event across one of the most scenic and rugged landscapes Missouri’s Ozark Trail has to offer. The course traverses from the highest point in Missouri\, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park\, past beautiful Mina Sauk Falls then through the lichen-covered rhyolite sentries of Devil’s Toll Gate. Hikers and runners will then climb over and around Proffit and Wildcat Mountains with a tricky descent past the famous scour of Taum Sauk reservoir\, finishing at Johnson’s Shut-ins State Park. The race is meant to bolster friendship and awareness among groups and provide inspiration for adventure! DESCRIPTION:The OT Challenge Hike is not just a great time\, it’s our largest fundraiser.  After only three years\, the event has generated $75\,000 to help maintain Missouri’s longest trail. \n\n\n\nWhat is it? The Challenge Hike is a fundraiser AND hike. Each registered hiker commits to raising $1\,250 for the Ozark Trail Association and participates in a 17 mile hike. \nWhat if I can’t hike 17 miles? Don’t worry! You can still raise funds for the OTA and be a “virtual” hiker. What a great way to support the organization! \nWhat’s in it for me? The best part of this fundraiser is the group of committed hikers! You’ll be treated to a festive weekend with free camping\, free food\, fellowship\, campfire\, music and all sorts of OTA/Challenge Hike schwag. \nWhere is the hike?
