We’ll be working Friday thru Tuesday doing tread work and general trail maintenance. \nBring weather appropriate clothing. Be prepared to dress in layers. Bring sturdy hiking shoes / boots. \nBring fixings for lunch and is you have special dietary needs let us know. \nThe OTA will provide a Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.

SUMMARY:Trails Skill College - Winona
DESCRIPTION:We are again offering an opportunity for OTA Volunteers\, Land Managers and Partnes to participate in learning about what it takes to care for multi-use trails. From trail construction and maintenance to tool care and equipment to providing an opportunity to become a USFS Certified Chainsaw or Crosscut saw operator. We will also offer recertification for those who are due. \nWe will base out of the Winona Work Station with limited bunking (first come) and camping in the yard. There is also a hotel in Mountain Home 20 minutes away. Cost per participant is $30. \nMore details are being formulated and will be posted as we finalize them. Kathie Brennan

DESCRIPTION:Our tradition continues as we celebrate Fall in Winona. We’ll be doing more GAO work on the southern sections \nincluding a day or 2  down on the Norfork Section.  Lots of TLC needed down south. \nWe’ll be in the USFS Winona facilities so we’ll have beds\, bathrooms and kitchens to do some \nproper Whoopin It Up!! in our favorite location. Camping on the grounds  is available to those wish to camp. \n  \nRemember — we’re finishing our 20yr year as the caretakers of the Ozark Trail — lets do it BIG!! \nCome down for the Weekend or the whole thing — we want young and old alike to have a very special Winona event. \nWe’re still be covid cautious but hopefully we’re past the worst covid has to give. \nWe’ll post a few more details as we get closer to the event so be on the lookout as the date gets closer. \n

SUMMARY:"Luck of the Irish" at Winona extended week
DESCRIPTION:Join us for some “Lucky” days working on the Ozark Trail.  This will be a multi day event for volunteers so when you sign up be sure to make sure you let us know what days you plan on attending for food and equipment planning.  We will be based out of the Winona USFS facility with limited housing due to Covid restrictions but there is ample camping in the yard that is also available.. \nUPDATE:  This is an OTA tradition…..Spend the weekend or more in the Winona area to give some love to the southern sections of the OT.  Work will begin on Saturday through Thursday\, March 25. \nWHERE:  USFS Winona facility on Hwy 19. \nWHAT:  Crews will be dispatched to various areas of the Eleven Point and Between the Rivers sections – to saw\, lop\, and repair sections in need.  We will also be looking at Peck Ranch to get some work done there as well if time permits.  Volunteers might be asked to help car pool to the various sites and there are some drives up to 45 minutes ONLY IF they feel comfortable. \nTO BRING:  You will need to dress for the weather and trail work.  Boots and layers of clothing work best.  You will also need to wear sturdy boots\, have a backpack\, rain gear\, plan for your lunches/snacks and have plenty of water.  If you have a favorite pair of loppers bring them along with work gloves.  Bring your own camping gear and personal items as there is also a bathroom available. \nPROVIDED: Dinner will be provided on Saturday night and if you’d like to help bring along a side dish to share or a desert.  We’ll throw together a communal breakfast Sunday morning.  Kathie will supply coffee needs if those attending can throw in breakfast fixings\, i.e. eggs\, ham\, bread\, fruit. NOTE:  Other meals will be planned out accordingly so we NEED to know days you’ll be volunteering. \nPPE(hard hats\, work gloves\, safety glasses)\, tools and fun filled days will be the best thing about this week!  Be sure to also bring a camp chair for evening campfires.  You \nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day or two of spiffing up the OTA house inside and out.   What fun we’ll have getting some general maintenance in the house done including painting\, deep cleaning\, yard work\, sharpening trail tools to minor maintenance on our power equipment.  Meals will be provided so be sure to let us know of any dietary needs. \nThis will be the time of the year that we together can accomplish a TON of things with many hands.  Take advantage of the season to give back in a little bit different way by joining us at the OTA Office in Potosi to start the New Year in great shape! \n
