We’  work until about 2:30 or so \nBring at least 2 liters of water and a lite lunch. \nWear sturdy hiking shoes or bots\, long pants and layers appropriate for the weather as it could be cold. \nLast outing of 2025 soo let’s make the most of it. \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:************************************************** \nNote — The date changed due to Americorps scheduling issues \nIt is NOW Dec 1 -8\, 2025  not \nDec 8-17\,2025 \n******************************************************* \nOT 8-day Maintenance Event out of Peck Ranch \nWe”ll do a last event down south before the holidays. \nPeck Ranch facility has beds\, indoor bathrooms and showers\, full kitchen and dining \nWe’ll have a fire every night .. weather permitting. \nWe have added the  2-story ranger house at the USFS facility is located just north of the Casey’s which is at the junction of Hwy 19 and 106. \nIt is approx 20 minutes from Peck Ranch. \nWe’ll leave the facilities at roughly8:30 am  each morning and meetup or go to independent locations independently on the work \nthat is scheduled. Work will include trail clearing\, weed eating\, leaf blowing\, sawyer tree clearing and tread rehab. \nThe house driveway is the first entrance just past the mok3y the Bear sign on the right. The house will be open around 3 pm. \nI’ll be over at Peck Ranch until approx 2:45pm so you could meet there and follow me over to Winona. \nThe house has 2 full bathrooms ( 1 up and 1 down) and beds for 10 people with full kitchen and laundry. There is also lots of space for tent camping if you prefer. \nThere will be a couple of prepared meals at least 1 dinner and 1 breakfast for everyone who attends. \nWe’ll also prepare a dinner or 2 and a breakfast for everyone over at Peck Ranch on Dec 5-8. \nWe ask that you bring some sleeping gear as there are beds with mattresses etc but no bedding or sheets or pillows. \nYou’ll meed your own bath accessories ( soap. shampoo etc) and a towel.  All other amenities are supplied. \nPlease bring lunch fixins and any special dietary foods you need\,   Have sturdy hiking shoes or boots\, long pants\, and appropriate \nother outer wear and layers for colder weather. \n  \n

This is our chance to work on an outreach opportunity to support others who \ndon’t have the opportunity to get out on more remote trails. Once  they experience the outdoors.. the hope is that more will decide to explore the outdoors farther afield and ultimately the Ozark Trail. \nMeetup in the OFallon YMCA parking lot at 8:30am. \nBring 2 liters of water and a lunch. Wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots\, long pants and weather appropriate shirts/light jackets. \nWe’ll probably be done by 2:30pm or so. \nThe OTA will supply all tools and safety equipment

DESCRIPTION:Oct 9-15\, 2025 — Fall Whoopin It Up in Winona — \n************************************************** \n  \nAll — We have had to move to the Peck Ranch Facilities due to the Federal Government Shutdown. \nPeck Ranch is approx 5 miles East of Winona on Hwy H. When you get to the Peck Ranch Access road there \nwill be a large  State park style sign.. just turn right and go approx 8 miles to the entrance to Peck Ranch. Go left at the junction and proceed through the open gates approx 1.3 miles to the “Y” in the road. veer right and go about 1/4 miles to the housing facilities. \nYou can park anywhere in the open area. You’ll see OTA vehicles and tool trailer parked. The first entrance is the access to the housing unit. \n  \nThere are 8 bedrooms that have 4 bunk beds .. We will just double up to try and keep just 2 folks to a room \nThe facility has full showers and rest rooms and well as a well equipped kitchen and common area. \nIf you prefer to camp there is a very spacious outdoor area that accommodate a dozen or more tents or even campers. \nThere are no hookups or facilities  for campers however .. so just be aware. \nYou will need sleeping bags or bed linens for the \nbeds and the USFS doesn’t provide those. We can accommodate up to 18-20 folks in the houses and there is plenty \nof space for outdoor camping on the grounds. The houses have full kitchens and bathroom facilities \nStay for a day or the entire 10 days.. up to you. \nBring you 0wn lunch fixins and if you have special dietary needs .. please let us know or bring your own. \nWe’ll prepare several breakfasts and dinners for the crew that comes out. \nBring sturdy hiking shoes/boots\, long pants and weather appropriate shirts. You will need sleeping bags or bed linens for the \nbeds and the USFS doesn’t provide those. You will also need to bring toiletries and bath towels. \nAs allways\, the OTA provides all tools ad safety equipment needed ( helmets\,gloves and safety glasses). \n

DESCRIPTION:Sept 26-28\, 2025  — OTA Fall Mega \nFINALLY—  We will be working down South building the new 11 Pt Trail Head access off of Cty Rd 430 ( Banner Rd / Forest Rd 3173) \nCome out and help build new trail on the Ozark Trail for the first time in many years!!! \nWe’ll have camping available at Greer Springs Campground on located on Hwy 19 at the 11 Point River Crossing about a 20 minute drive south of Winona and Hwy 60. We will also have limited space avail ( approx 10-12)  at the USFS Winona housing facility. We’ll have some overflow camping space there as well. \nYou can arrive at Greer Springs Thursday evening if you want to help with Friday setup\, tool cache and work area prep. \nEveryone else can arrive Friday anytime or even Saturday morning if you like.. Just have to be there on Saturday by 8  am. \nWe’ll Greer campground at 8:30 am sharp to the 11 pt Western terminus\, pick up tools and hike a short distance in to the work area.
