SUMMARY:2022 OT Hike and Float Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Adventures are more fun when shared with friends! For this year’s OT Hike and Float Challenge\, we are encouraging you to find a friend or two and take on our fundraising challenge as a team! \nOur adventure will take place the weekend of September 9-11\, 2022\, with the hike-and-float day being Saturday\, September 10\, 2022. Like last year\, we’ll be based out of Round Spring Campground and we’ll be hiking Upper Current River section of the OT\, ending in a float on the Current River back to the starting point. \nHikers will be treated to a festive weekend with free camping\, free food\, fellowship\, campfire\, music and all sorts of OTA / Hike and Float Challenge swag. \nEach team will be challenged to not only complete the hike-and-float\, but\, more importantly\, to raise a targeted amount (depending upon the number of people in the team) in support of the OTA through tax deductible donations by friends\, family\, co-workers\, etc. Corporate sponsorships and new memberships recruited by participants also count toward the fundraising goal. There are many other ways to raise funds with creative fundraising ideas….it’s really easier than it sounds! Ideas can be obtained from the Event Director or from our event Facebook page. \nOur team fundraising targets for this year are:\n1 team member: $1\,000\n2 team members: $1\,800\n3 team members: $2\,400 \nThe best way to begin is to set up your fund-raising pages (we’ll get you information when you register) now and share the links with everyone you know\, so they may make a tax-deductible contribution to the OTA in support of your participation in this event. Get someone to donate in 2021 and 2022 and they can snag two deductions! We’ll be using both Facebook Fundraising and GoFundMe platforms for this fundraiser; directions for creating a Facebook Fundraiser and/or GoFundMe page for the OTA can be found . \nYou may register for the event above\, and we’ll be in touch. If you have questions\, please email the Event Director at otchallengehike@ozarktrail.com \nWe look forward seeing your great challenge!

SUMMARY:New OTA Crew Leader Training
DESCRIPTION:Yup!  It’s time to jump on the Crew Leader bandwagon as the OTA expands and grows with more construction and maintenance events.  The role of a Crew Leader is an important step in introducing and sharing your knowledge of trail construction and maintenance of the Ozark Trail. \nAugust 13-14\, 2022 — Saturday and Sunday \nThis is a 2 day event that will be based out of the OTA office in Potosi.  Day one is classroom instruction and the second day will be a field day reviewing what knowledge you gained from the day before.  Other details including the opportunity for a possible First Aid class to also be part of the training weekend.  Participants who are eligible should have at least 3 construction and or maintenance events under their hard hats. \nWe have limited bunk space at the OTA House that can accommodate 6 or so folks and there is of course camping in the back yard. \nMore information will be shared closer to the event.
