Job Board: Membership Coordinator
About the Program: Members are the lifeblood of the Ozark Trail Association. They provide a base of talent for all the volunteer positions so critical to the OTA. Membership fees provide a significant source of stable operating revenue that makes all the activities of the OTA possible.
Position Description: The Membership Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of the OTA membership program, ensuring that everyone is successful in starting or renewing their membership. The Coordinator works with the Finance Committee and others to help stimulate membership growth. The annual OTA Members’ Meeting is organized by the Coordinator.
Key Duties:
- Membership Processing: Monitors new and renewing membership attempts and resolves membership system issues as they arise.
- Membership Growth: Generates Facebook #membershipmonday posts. Represents the membership program at OTA gatherings such volunteer work events and community outreach events. Looks for ways to increase membership.
- Membership Retention: Works to retain existing members with outreach via email social media and face-to-face. Engages other OTA leadership to assist in retention.
- Reporting: Produces standard monthly reports to track membership counts, status and issues.
- Membership Email List Management: Updates OTA mailing list database (Constant Contact) with new members information.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of OTA operations.
- Willingness to learn the membership management software used by the OTA.
- Demonstrated commitment to ensuring the program is inclusive and welcoming of the entire trail community.
Skills Needed:
- Comfortable with list manipulation in Excel.
- Working knowledge of Word for report production.
Time Commitment: Once you’re comfortable with the membership software, the position requires an estimated 10 – 12 hours per month.
Location: This is a work-from-home function that can be done at any location with internet, email and printer access. Occasional travel to the OTA office (Potosi, MO) may be needed to attend meetings.
Support Provided: The incumbent Coordinator will provide training on the OTA membership software, as well as the weekly and monthly activities and deliverables while the new Coordinator shadows the incumbent. Until the new Coordinator is fully trained, the incumbent Coordinator will “reverse shadow” the new Coordinator to answer questions and provide suggestions.
